OFFICERS Yo-Mah-O seats leaders, presents scholarships



Chairwomen of various committees also were appointed.
CANFIELD -- Yo-Mah-O Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals held installation of officers for the 2004-05 term June 8 at A La Cart Catering.
Joan Giba and Sharon Conway conducted the induction ceremony as Lynn Romeo was installed as president.
Those seated as her associate officers were Christine Simone, president-elect; Deborah Yiannaki, recording secretary; Sherry Lewis, corresponding secretary; Joyce Laska, treasurer; and Mary Lou Weingart, assistant treasurer. Sharyn Fees will serve the organization as parliamentarian.
Appointed as chairwomen for various committees were Elfreda Hoefer, Administrative Professionals Week; Tracy Goad, attendance and courtesy and bulletin; Andrea McConnaughy, audit; Patricia Vallas, certification committee; Laska, community service; Joan Battagline and Barbara Sofranec, custodial; Judy Cundik, education; Simone, Executive Night; Marlene Daily, membership; Roseanne Cullen and Mary Hake, program; Peggy Davis and Battagline, publicity-scrapbook; Pauline Hruby and Linda Welther, retirement; Sofranec, rules and bylaws; Giba, scholarship; Hake and Cullen, social; and Sharyn Fees, Web site.
New president
Romeo joined the chapter in 1992 and served as president in 1996-97 and 1998-99. She was named Member of the Year in 1999, the same year she attained her certified professional secretary certification. She has served as president-elect twice, vice president, assistant treasurer and treasurer, has chaired and served on various committees, and attended state and national IAAP conventions. She has been in the car dealership business for more than 30 years and was office manager of Spartan Chevrolet for 10 years. She lives in Boardman.
Scholarships
The chapter also awarded two $1,500 scholarships during the event. Recipients of those were Jeff Perrine and Simone.
Perrine, a son of Rich and Phillis Perrine, lives in Youngstown with his family. He has been accepted at Youngstown State University, where he plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in business administration and, later, a master's degree. He has worked for the past several years at his family's business, Perrine Enterprises, and for the past three years has been supervisor of the cleaning staff at Edward W. Powers Auditorium, where he also ushers. He was a high-school bowling three-year letterman and is active in the youth group at St. Brendan Church.
Simone attends YSU, where she is pursuing a degree in information technology. She has worked at Melmore Associates since 1985 and became office manager there in 1997. She has been a chapter member since 1999, has served as president, president-elect and corresponding secretary, has chaired several committees, and has attended a number of seminars and workshops. She also was elected Member of the Year in 2003 and 2004.
