UTILITIES
YOUNGSTOWN -- Richard J. Pucak is the new president of Thermal Ventures, and James S. Benson has been named vice president and chief engineer.
Pucak has been with the company's management for 22 years, working at various district steam systems including Youngstown, St. Louis, Boston, Cleveland and Akron. Formerly of Hubbard, he lives in Mentor.
Benson has more than 20 years' experience in district heating, cooling and co-generation. He lives in Strongsville.
RETAIL
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mark P. Escaja, a Youngstown native, is the president and chief executive of a new Cleveland-based venture, United Commercial Property Group LLC, which will develop shopping centers around the country. Escaja is a former executive vice president and director of development for DeBartolo Property Group. He lives in Solon.
TRUCKING
GIRARD -- Old Dominion Freight Line has named David S. Roberts manager of sales and service for its new 27-door service center in Girard and transferred Greg Ritorto and Bill Paulette from other company locations to handle sales in the area.
Roberts, a native of Cleveland, is a 27-year veteran of the transportation industry. He studied business at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland.
Paulette, who is transferring from the company's Cleveland service center, is a 36-year veteran of the transportation field and studied business at Kent State University. Ritorto, an 18-year industry veteran, transferred from the Pittsburgh service center.
HEALTH CARE
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning Valley Hospital has promoted Mary Lou Sankovich to chief operating officer and chief nursing officer, Carmel Toto to education director of its Youngstown and Trumbull campuses and Martha Elliott to human resource director.
Sankovich, of Girard, a registered nurse, joined the hospital in 1999 as clinical services director. She has associate and bachelor's degrees in nursing from Youngstown State University and a master's degree in nursing from Gannon University.
Toto, of Austintown, has overseen employee education at the hospital since 1999. She graduated from Akron City Hospital School of Nursing and received a bachelor's degree in applied science from YSU and a master's degree in nursing from the University of Akron.
Elliott, of Canfield, has been human resource coordinator since 2000. She also has 25 years of human resource and benefit administration experience for nonprofit organizations.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mary Deborah Wojcicki has been promoted to scheduling coordinator of Cambridge Home Health Care's Youngstown office. She had been billing and payroll specialist. Wojcicki, of Girard, has attended ITT Technical Institute.
FINANCE
CANFIELD -- Sidney Jones has been named resident manager of the Canfield office of Merrill Lynch. A graduate of Boardman High School, he received bachelor's degrees in finance and economics. He also is the senior partner of The Jones Group, a team of financial advisers and assistants who work with a select group of high-net-worth people and businesses.
