Sky Financial acquires Second Bancorp
WARREN -- Sky Financial Group, the Bowling Green-based holding company for Sky Bank, has completed its acquisition of Second Bancorp, the Warren-based holding company for Second National Bank.
Second Bancorp shareholders will receive 1.26 shares of Sky common stock for share of Second Bancorp stock they own.
Sky officials said they will continue to occupy Second National's main office in Warren and another office in the city.
"We already have an established presence in the Youngstown area and look forward to our growth into the Warren market," said Frank Hierro, Sky regional president.
Sky has said it will eliminate 220 of the 630 jobs at Second National and transfer 120 workers to new positions. Two Second National and two Sky branches are closing. Second National offices will begin operating under the Sky name.
WYTV Channel 33 comes to the Dish Network
YOUNGSTOWN -- WYTV Channel 33 now is available to customers of the Dish Network satellite television service. The station and EchoStar Communications, which operates the Dish Network, had reached an agreement but weren't able to compete the paperwork until Wednesday, said Pat Livingston, station news director. The other area TV stations began airing on the Dish Network last week. EchoStar has been adding local channels in markets across the country since a 1999 law change allowed satellite TV companies to offer them.
