Q: Please give me some information on Tony Geary from "General Hospital." Has he ever been married or have any children, and how old is he? -- P.B., Las Vegas, Nev.
A: The man who Soap Opera News has labeled "the most popular actor in soap opera history" is a lifelong bachelor with no children. Geary, 57, is from a small Utah town, studied drama at the University of Utah and made his professional debut on stage in "The Subject Was Roses" after being "discovered" by veteran actor Jack Albertson. Geary debuted as Luke Spencer on "General Hospital" in 1978 and has played the role on and off for the last 26 years. Last month, he was awarded his fourth Daytime Emmy.
Q: I would like to know whether any of the main characters in "JAG" have ever been in the military service. I was in the Navy for 20 years and I wondered whether any of them actually have seen active duty. They are exceptionally good with SOP (standard operating procedures). -- N.C., via e-mail
A: None of the stars cites any military background, but "JAG" does have technical advisers to keep both Navy and Marine Corps protocol on the show. Matt Sigloch, a retired Marine Corps master sergeant with 22 years service, and Paul Gillcrist, a retired Navy admiral, have been with the series during all nine seasons. "JAG" creator and executive producer Donald Bellisario is a former Marine and started his TV career as a story editor on "Black Sheep Squadron." For the record, Canadian-born David James Elliott ("Harm") was in a rock back before he took up acting, and Catherine Bell ("Mac") was a part-time model and UCLA student. "JAG" returns for a 10th season in September.
Q: Do the guys who play J.T. Helstrom ("The Young and the Restless") and Nick Marone ("Bold & amp; Beautiful") use their own singing voices on the shows? -- D.B., Irving, Texas
A: Thad Luckinbill (J.T.) and Jack Wagner (Nick) really do sing on their respective soaps. Luckinbill even wrote the song "Feel" that J.T. sang to Colleen as a Valentine's Day gift. It's not been released but you can hear a clip of it online at www.thadluckinbill.com. Wagner has recorded several songs in the past and had a hit in 1989 with "All I Need." He sang and co-wrote "Going Back Again," heard on "B & amp;B" earlier this year. You can listen to it at www.cbs.com or download it from the "B & amp;B" fan site www.bandbfanclub.com.
