WARREN -- Investigators are hoping that test results will give them information that may help solve the mystery of a 39-year-old city woman's death.
Detectives say they are awaiting results of tests on evidence that was sent to the lab shortly after Deana Jenkins was found dead in her Clearwater Street home.
Preliminary autopsy reports state that Deana Jenkins was strangled.
Police said the Trumbull County Coroner's Office will not release a final ruling on the death until the toxicology reports are returned from the lab.
"We don't know when we will be getting the information, but we hope it's soon," said Detective Joseph Marhulik. He declined to elaborate as to what exactly is being tested.
Deana Jenkins, wife of Warren G. Harding High School girls varsity basketball head coach, was found dead May 20. Deana Jenkins' husband, David, has worked for two seasons as the girls varsity basketball head coach.
The home telephone number for Jenkins is disconnected. Neither he nor his attorney, J. Gerald Ingram of Boardman, could be reached.
Jenkins' talked to police briefly the night of the death but has not given any other statements, detectives said.
Interviews being done
"We are still interviewing anyone who may have any information on this case," said Captain Tim Roberts, who oversees the detective bureau.
Detectives noted they are working closely with Chris Becker, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor. Police declined to say if any arrests would be made soon and stressed that there are no suspects at this time.
Jenkins' body was found around 8:30 p.m. May 20 in a closet of the home she shared with David and their two children.
Deana Jenkins worked at the Trumbull County Child Support Enforcement Agency.
Christina Campbell, agency director, said Jenkins was at work earlier May 20 and didn't indicate she had any problems.
Jenkins worked for 10 years at the agency as an enforcement specialist.
