NOTEBOOK From Eastwood Field
Familiar faces: Campbell Memorial High graduate Gus Hlebovy will visit Eastwood Field next week (July 5-7) as a relief pitcher with the Vermont Expos. Going into Wednesday's game, Hlebovy had three saves and a 6.75 ERA in six appearances for the Expos. He's not the only former area standout playing in the New York-Penn League. East Palestine High graduate Aaron Walker is pitching for the Hudson Valley Renegades, who visit the Scrappers on July 20-22. Walker made his professional debut last weekend, pitching in relief and earning the win in a 10-5 victory over Jamestown.
Looking ahead: The Scrappers will continue their homestand against the Doubledays tonight and Friday, starting at 7:05. Former big-league pitcher Mike Porzio is scheduled to start for the Scrappers tonight. He made three starts for the Chicago White Sox last season before the Indians signed him as a free agent in December. Left-hander Justin Pekarek (0-0, 6.48) will take the mound Friday for Mahoning Valley.
