Man sentenced in assault case
MERCER, Pa. -- A 33-year-old man will serve up to 30 months in Mercer County Jail for assaulting two police officers while being arrested last year on Mesabi Street in Sharon.
Leotis Chambers, 33, address listed as the county jail, was sentenced to 15 months in jail for simple assault and three to 15 months for resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. The terms were ordered served consecutively Wednesday by Judge Thomas Dobson of Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Also Wednesday:
UJoel Urey, 25, of Petersburg Road, Hadley, was sentenced to one to 18 months in jail for simple assault, a misdemeanor, and ordered to pay $1,447 in restitution. Last Sept. 27, according to court documents, Urey struck another man in the face, breaking several bones and causing severe cuts. The assault occurred at Urey's home.
UJason VanTassell, 20, of Freeport Road, New Kensington, was placed on 15 months' probation for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. VanTassell was caught in a stolen car in Jackson Township, according to court records.
URobert Williamson, 31, of Polk, was sentenced to two to 12 months in jail for misdemeanor harassment. According to records, on Jan. 12 he threatened to shoot a man and woman at a Sandy Lake Township address if they testified against him. He was given 17 days' credit for time already served.
