BOARDMAN Urban studies director will address institute

At the meeting, 36 educators will be recognized..
BOARDMAN -- Hunter Morrison, director of Youngstown State University's Center for Urban and Regional Studies, will be the keynote speaker for the Industrial Information Institute for Education's 56th annual meeting, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mr. Anthony's Banquet Center.
The event also will include the recognition of 36 educators from throughout the Mahoning Valley area. Institute President Michael T. Heher, district manager of Allied Waste Industries/BFI will preside and present a report on the institute's educational programs. Call (330) 941-2314 for meeting information.
Morrison's background
Morrison was the director of the Cleveland City Planning Commission and was responsible for Civic Vision 2000, a $3 million initiative that updated that city's downtown plan, citywide plan and zoning code.
Morrison received a bachelor's degree in city planning and political science at Yale College; a master's degree in city planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design; and an executive master's in business administration degree from Cleveland State University.
YSU established the center to undertake applied research for urban and regional development issues and to provide technical assistance to local government, businesses and social service organizations.
