GIRARD Stabbing leads to arrests of 2 men at Girard house

A Philadelphia doctor was found with a steak knife sticking out of his chest.
GIRARD -- Two men, including an out-of-town emergency room physician, have been charged after police were called Saturday to a stabbing.
Dr. Mark Sorensen, 56, whose last known address is Vine Street, Philadelphia, was charged today with possession of drug-abuse instruments.
Sorensen is being treated for a stab wound of the chest in St. Elizabeth Health Center. The stab wound reportedly was self-inflicted. His condition was not available today.
Another man, James J. Altiero Jr., 57, of 41 E. Broadway Ave., was charged with permitting drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Described as a 'crack house'
According to the police report, authorities were called to the Broadway residence, which police Capt. Frank Bigowsky described as a "crack house."
Sorensen was found lying on a living-room couch with a steak knife sticking out of his chest.
While paramedics tried to get Sorensen into the ambulance, he became abusive to them and police, the report said.
Bigowsky said it appears that Sorensen was working in Oil City, Pa., but was staying at the Broadway house, which Altiero rents.
Police said they found drug-abuse instruments in the house. Bigowsky said there was no physical evidence that someone else stabbed Sorensen.
