COLUMBIANA Spaghetti dinner to aid former councilman Geoff Parsly

COLUMBIANA -- A benefit spaghetti dinner for Geoff Parsly and his family will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave.
Parsly, 49, is a former Columbiana councilman and is retired as an application engineer for Appropriate Technology of Cleveland and as a project engineer for Buckeye Manufacturing in East Palestine.
Church officials said Parsly was diagnosed in September 2002 with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Since that time, the disease has progressed, and he is no longer able to work and must use a wheelchair.
Dinner proceeds will be used to help the family with medical expenses, church officials said. Donations also can be made to the family through the Parsly Family Fund at Bank One branches.
Parsly was born in Philadelphia but has lived in Columbiana County most of his life. He is a graduate of Columbiana High School and Kent State University.
His wife, Cinthia, is a consultant with the Columbiana County Educational Service Center in Lisbon.
The couple and their sons Andrew, 11, and Evan, 6, live in Columbiana.
