SALEM -- A free exhibit of artifacts associated with the life of Dr. Jerri Nielsen, who was rescued from the South Pole after performing surgery on herself for breast cancer, is on view at Salem Historical Society on South Broadway.
The display, which is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays, will also feature items associated with her life in the West Branch School district.
Photo contestat nature center
ALLIANCE -- The John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center will hold its second annual photo contest and exhibit from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 27.
Nature photos of wild plants, animals and landscapes, as well as backyard nature, enhanced photos, and black and white photos, will be accepted until 4 p.m. Feb. 25.
The center is on Daniel Street.

Entries will be displayed at the visitors center through March. People's choice nominations will be accepted through March 19, and the winner will be displayed March 20.
Regis and 'Millionaire'will return for a week
Two years after ABC ran it into the ground, it will bring back "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," and host Regis Philbin, for a weeklong run next month.
This time, it's called "Super Millionaire," with a jacked-up pot of $10 million.
The first "Super Millionaire" will air Feb. 22, a Sunday, at 9 p.m., followed by 10 p.m. shows Monday through Friday.
