MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE Seals, Mason help Miami defeat Eastern Michigan

OXFORD -- Gene Seals scored 13 points and Chet Mason added 11 points and 11 rebounds, leading Miami (Ohio) past Eastern Michigan 74-46 Saturday.
Juby Johnson and Monty St. Clair also scored 11 points each for the RedHawks (9-6, 5-2 Mid-American Conference), who didn't shoot well but didn't have to because the Eagles (6-9, 1-6) struggled throughout.
John Bowler led the Eagles with 19 points and Markus Austin added 15.
Akron 75, Cent. Michigan 62
AKRON -- Derrick Tarver scored 33 points and Akron pulled away in the second half.
Tarver was 13-of-21 from the field and made two 3-pointers for the Zips (9-6, 3-4 MAC).
Kevin Nelson led Central Michigan (3-14, 0-7) with 12 points. Gerrit Brigitha and Sefton Barrett scored nine points apiece and Barrett also had 10 rebounds.
Jeremiah Wood made 11 points for Akron and Romeo Travis scored nine. Wood also had seven rebounds.
W. Michigan 70, Ball St. 66
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Anthony Kann scored 17 points and had a three-point play with 42 seconds remaining.
While Kann led Western in scoring and rebounding (10), three free throws and two rebounds by Levi Rost in the final minute preserved the win for the Broncos (13-2, 6-1 MAC), who won their 12th consecutive home game.
Rost, a reserve forward, had rebounds on two consecutive Ball State possessions, was fouled and hit 3-of-4 free throws.
Dennis Trammell led Ball State (8-7, 5-2) with 20 points, but with 1.9 seconds remaining and the Cardinals down by three, he was called for traveling. The loss broke a five-game Ball State winning streak.
Marshall 74, Ohio 60
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Enoch Bunch came off the bench to score 15 points for Marshall (7-8, 4-3 MAC), which used a 29-7 spurt midway through the second half to erase a five-point halftime deficit.
David Anderson added 14 points for the Herd.
Sonny Troutman scored 13 points to lead the Bobcats (5-12, 2-5). Jaivon Harris and Delvar Barrett had 11 points each.
