MAC/FEDERAL Balanced Canfield subdues Howland
Terrell Eargle helped Fitch rally past East Liverpool.
HOWLAND -- Chad Baker scored 19 points Friday to lead the Canfield High boys basketball team to its 10th win, a 59-54 victory over Howland.
Jordan Ferns scored 13 points and Frank Turocy 11 for the Cardinals (10-3, 6-1 Metro Athletic Conference).
For Howland (2-10, 0-7), Neil Claggett scored 17 points, Cody Chappell had 12 and Jeff Proctor 10.
Alliance 53, Salem 50
SALEM -- The Aviators (7-5, 3-4 MAC) led 38-29 after three quarters, then held off the Quakers' (5-7, 4-2) rally to prevail.
Austin Banks took scoring honors for Alliance with 25 points and he grabbed six rebounds.
Joe Smith paced the Quakers with 11 points and Zac Grey chipped in with 10. Landon Heath had five assists.
Fitch 61, E. Liverpool 55
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Terrell Eargle scored 10 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter for the Falcons (9-3).
Fitch trailed by 10 points in the third quarter but a 3-pointer by Mike Brown at the buzzer narrowed the deficit to 46-42.
Mark Aikens also scored five of his 22 points in the final quarter as Fitch outscored the Potters 19-9 in the last eight minutes.
Eargle added 12 rebounds.
Brian Keefer led the Potters with 25 points.
Canton GlenOak 69, Boardman 57
CANTON -- Anthony Gage scored 21 points as GlenOak (8-4, 3-2) took a 33-27 halftime lead and slowly pulled away in a Federal League contest.
Nick Ludban had 19 points and Mike DeOnofrio added 18 for Boardman (5-6, 1-3), which was outrebounded 40-30.
Jay Davis added 10 points and six rebounds.
