LUBBOCK, Texas -- Brandon Mouton hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime and Royal Ivey then made two free throws with 17 seconds to play to lift No. 16 Texas to a 62-61 victory over No. 13 Texas Tech Monday night. Mouton made his 22-foot shot off a crosscourt inbounds pass with 2.6 seconds remaining and tied the score at 55. Jarrius Jackson missed a long 3-pointer at the buzzer and Texas Tech's 12-game winning streak was snapped. Kenton Paulino scored 12 points for Texas (13-3, 4-1 Big 12). Jackson scored 17 points for the Red Raiders (16-3, 4-1).
No. 23 Providence 65, Georgetown 50
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Donnie McGrath scored 18 points to lead the Friars to their sixth straight win. Providence (14-3, 5-1 Big East) has won five in a row in the conference and moved into a tie for first place with No. 7 Pittsburgh. Gerald Riley had 22 points for the Hoyas (11-5, 2-4). Sheiku Kabba had 15 points for the Friars.
Ill.-Chicago 64, Loyola 57
CHICAGO -- Cedrick Banks scored all of his game-high 22 points in the second half as Illinois-Chicago won a Horizon League game.
Armond Williams, with 10 points, was also in double figures for the Flames (14-7, 5-4 HL). Demetrius Williams led Loyola (6-12, 2-6) with 18 points, while Louis Smith added 13 and Paul McMillan 11. Williams also grabbed 12 rebounds. Loyola lost its seventh straight game.
Women
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Liz Strunk scored 15 points and Tonia Brown added 14 to lead Wake Forest to a 69-67 victory over No. 10 North Carolina. Strunk, a 73 percent shooter at the foul line, made two free throws with 21 seconds remaining and Brown made one of two with 13 seconds to go for the Demon Deacons (9-9, 2-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). Freshman Camille Little led the Tar Heels (15-3, 5-2) with 18 points and Leah Metcalf added 16.
