YOUNGSTOWN Coalition gives free tax-filing help



Help is available at several sites by appointment only.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Area Economic Opportunity Coalition will offer free income-tax assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers.
The help will be available beginning Feb. 7 at the following locations:
UMahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership, 101 Federal Plaza East, Suite 200, Youngstown, through April 15.
UYoungstown State University, One University Plaza, Williamson Hall, through April 15.
UPublic Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, main branch, week of March 8.
Hours of operation, which include Saturdays, will be posted at each site. All assistance will be scheduled by appointment only, and will be provided by community volunteers trained at YSU, according to Michelle Bell, Internal Revenue Service representative.
The sites will offer free income-tax return preparation through the IRS' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and free electronic submission of returns through the IRS electronic filing program, Bell said.
The coalition includes MYCAP; YSU; the library; Home Savings & amp; Loan Company; Mount Zion Baptist Church, Youngstown; and the IRS.
