LEAVITTSBURG -- Lynle Cornell became the fourth girls basketball player for Hubbard to top the 1,000-point mark for her career in Thursday's 63-36 win at LaBrae.
Cornell, a senior, achieved the milestone on her first basket of the game, a 3-pointer. The other Eagles to score 1,000 points are Kacie Coonce, Katy Jo Mroski and Cara Hendrix.
Cornell scored a dozen points in the first quarter as Hubbard jumped ahead, 20-3. She added 13 in the second quarter.
Loni Sargent and Callie Oyler scored 10 points each as the Eagles (8-4, 6-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference) remain a game behind Girard in the TAC race.
Natalie Bate and Maggie D'Orio led the Vikings (2-10, 0-7) with eight points each.
