BOYS BASKETBALL Liberty's Fletcher tops 1,000 points
The senior guard led the Leopards past Champion.
CHAMPION -- Brad Fletcher topped the 1,000-point career scoring barrier, as Liberty High defeated Champion 70-55 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference boys basketball game Tuesday.
Fletcher, a 6-foot-3 senior guard, scored 26 points and now has 1,009 for the Leopards (8-2, 2-2). He also had seven rebounds and four steals.
Joe Lopez added a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, while Joel Marshall was in with 10 points.
Jake Gross paced the Golden Flashes (0-9, 0-4) with 16 points and Mark Jackson tossed in 10 more.
LaBrae 57, Hubbard 54
HUBBARD -- Danny Hartman connected for six 3-pointers in scoring 26 points for the Vikings (8-2, 4-0 TAC). Dave Colarik scored 10 points for first-place LaBrae.
Jeff Jablonski scored 19 points with four treys for the Eagles (4-5, 1-3). Jacoby Morris netted 12 points.
Lakeview 58, Girard 45
CORTLAND -- Matt Nero scored 16 points -- including four 3-pointers -- and Lakeview outscored Girard 17-8 in the second quarter to take control of the TAC game.
Brent McCullough scored 11 points and Mike Frangiamore had 11 points and seven rebounds for Lakeview (8-2, 4-0), which held a 28-15 rebounding edge. Chuck Williams added 10 points.
Nick Canterino and Nick Cretella each had 11 points for Girard (3-6, 1-3) and Ryan Collins added 10.
Akron SVSM 88, Mooney 51
AKRON -- David Zidian scored 16 points for Mooney (8-3), which fell behind 44-20 at halftime. Rick Solak added 10 for the Cardinals.
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (9-2) was led by Corey Jones with 16 points.
Western Reserve 67, South Range 38
BERLIN CENTER -- Jake Zatchok collected 25 points and 10 rebounds as Western Reserve remained atop the Inter-County League standings.
Zatchok scored eight points in a 19-point second quarter when the Blue Devils (7-4, 5-0) took a 29-17 lead.
Dave Devellin added 13 points for the Blue Devils, who have won five straight.
Jordan Taylor led the Raiders with 13 points.
Windham 75, McDonald 71
MCDONALD -- Windham, trailing 38-37 at the break, rallied in the second half to prevail.
Jay Reed paced the Bombers with 19 points. Dusty Coakley chipped in with 14 and Sean Cline had 12.
James Beedle sparked the Blue Devils (6-4) with 30 points. Nick Testa added 22 and Mark Macali had 10.
Minerva 62, West Branch 58
MINERVA -- Shane Young and Nate Greenawalt each scored 21 points for the Warriors (3-8, 3-5 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
