Moby defends comedian over slew of hate mail
Moby defends comedianover slew of hate mail
Techno rocker Moby has come to the defense of Margaret Cho, reports MSNBC.com.
The outspoken comedian has come under attack for some anti-President Bush comments -- and now Moby, who has battled both Republicans and Eminem, is attacking Cho's attackers.
"My friend Margaret Cho was making fun of George Bush during a comedy routine at the Moveon.org awards last week," Moby writes in his online journal. "Gossip columnist Matt Drudge took two sentences from her routine and printed them out of context along with a very unflattering picture."
Moby also reprints some startlingly ugly hate mail sent to Cho, much of which focuses on her weight and the shape of her eyes.
"This is the true face of the right wing in America," he rails. "Judge for yourself and think of this vile right-wing hate the next time you turn on Fox News or listen to Rush Limbaugh or even the original "compassionate conservative" George Bush."
Town names streetsafter 'Simple Life' stars
New York socialite Paris Hilton and her best friend Nicole Richie now have another reason to visit Altus, Ark.
Mayor Veronica Post named an intersection in honor of the stars of the reality TV show "The Simple Life," reports Arkansas' KATV. The intersection will now be known as Paris Hilton Boulevard and Nicole Richie Avenue.
The event, in the town with a population of about 800, marks the release of "The Simple Life" on DVD. The entire town was on hand for the unveiling.
'Survivor' hostwould like to play
LOS ANGELES -- He knows he'll never get the chance, but Jeff Probst would love to play "Survivor" instead of just being the host.
"I would love to try it now that I've seen how it changes people's lives, because you just don't get that opportunity to test yourself like that," he said.
He likes both the physical and mental aspects of the game, and thinks he'd make a good contestant because he has a strong point of view and isn't afraid to express it. But it wouldn't be fair to play, having been host, he said.
Eighteen past "Survivor" contestants return for the all-star edition, which premieres Feb. 1 after the Super Bowl on CBS. Two past contestants were invited but didn't come back, said Mark Burnett, the series' executive producer.
One, Elisabeth Hasselbeck -- formerly Filarski -- is now a co-host on ABC's "The View." Colleen Haskell from the first show didn't want to go back.
"She just had enough -- just had moved on in her life and genuinely didn't want to go through that again," Burnett said.
