DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Enhanced penalties



The Ohio State Legislature enhanced the penalty for repeat offenders, who now face up to five years in prison for third and subsequent offenses. The law also lists these prior offenses that can be defined as domestic violence against a family or household member for the purpose of obtaining a civil protection order:
Aggravated murder, murder, voluntary murder.
Felonious assault, aggravated assault, assault.
Kidnapping, abduction, unlawful restraint.
Rape, sexual battery, unlawful conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition, sexual imposition.
Aggravated arson, arson.
Vandalism, criminal damaging/endangering, criminal mischief.
Aggravated robbery, robbery.
Aggravated burglary, burglary.
Breaking and entering, criminal trespass.
