Salatas mark golden jubilee at family dinner

XNEW MIDDLETOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Edward Salata, 32 Ward Ave., were honored Jan. 11 at a family dinner at The Fireplace Restaurant and Lounge in Poland on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the event were the couple's sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Mala Salata of New Middletown, Thomas and Debbie Salata of Poland, David Salata of New Springfield, and Larry and Kim Salata of Massillon. Nine grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Salata and the former Josephine Kovach were married Jan. 16, 1954, at St. Matthias Church in Youngstown. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired in 1994 from Youngstown Steel Door Co., where he was an electrician. His wife retired in 1995 from Gorant's, where she worked as an assistant superintendent.
The couple belong to St. Paul the Apostle Church, where Mrs. Salata is a member of the altar guild.
