American Automobile Association/Seniors For Safe Driving, in conjunction with area businesses and organizations, is sponsoring Mature Operators Driver Improvement Programs during March for drivers 55 or older. The classes will be divided into two 3 1/2-hour sessions. Tuition varies, and class size is limited. Registration for the following classes should be made as soon as possible: March 4 and 5 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Cranberry Senior Center, Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, Pa.; and March 15 and 18 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Baglier Buick GMC Mazda, 248 Pittsburgh Road, Butler, Pa. Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, income tax appointments at 9 a.m. and bridge and follies at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting and exercise at 10, computer class at 10 and noon, blood pressure screening from noon to 1 p.m., chorus at 1 and digital class at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10, computer class at 10 and noon, tai chi at noon, blood pressure screening at 12:30 p.m. and yoga and 500 card club at 1; Thursday, woodcarvers and TOPS at 9, Touching Lives Sewing Group at 10, blood pressure screenings at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., square dancing at 1 and line dancing at 3; and Friday, income tax appointments at 9 a.m., exercise class at 10, Health-O-Rama at Southern Park Mall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and crafts at 12:30. AARP tax experts will do income taxes free of charge for seniors. Appointments are needed by calling the center. The center has applications for the SBC telephone discount and HEAP programs. The SBC discount has been raised to $12.39 per month for eligible applicants.
