REGION Mount Union loses by 2 to No. 1 seed John Carroll



Westminster defeated Bethany for its first PAC title.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Mount Union (18-10), the sixth seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament, took No. 1 seed John Carroll (22-5) to the wire before losing 76-74 in the tournament championship game Saturday night.
The Raiders (18-10) were led by Curtis Stevens, who finished with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Point guard Clay Sanders (Rayen School) had a career-best 12 point effort while Chris Blakely finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Rob Paulauskas had 10 points.
Jon Carroll's Jerry Angel had a game-high 18 as the Blue Streaks (22-5) advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament for the second consecutive year.
Westminster 97, Bethany 88
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Ed Pagley (New Castle) scored a game-high 23 points as the Titans (15-12) won the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship game. Westminster won its first PAC title in its second year in the conference.
Mark DeMonaco (New Castle) added 20 points while Dom Joseph (New Castle) and Chris Hatch (South Range) each scored 14, and Randall Poindexter (Woodrow Wilson) had 12. Joseph also had 14 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Bethany (18-9) was led by Matt Drahos with 23 points.
Wooster 100, Wittenberg 71
SPRINGFIELD -- Second-seeded Wooster defeated top-seeded Wittenberg to claim its second straight, and ninth overall, North Coast Athletic Conference men's tournament title. Tom Port scored 22 points to lead the Fighting Scots. Rodney Mitchell and Blake Mealer scored 19 and 10 points, respectively. Peter Walker paced Wittenberg with 19 points.
Women
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Top-seeded Wittenberg defeated second-seeded Allegheny, 66-53, to claim its second straight, and seventh overall, NCAC tournament title.
Haley Warden recorded her second double-double in as many days to lead the Tigers to the win. She recorded 14 points and a game-high 17 rebounds and was named the tournament's most valuable player.
Amber Bishop led all scorers with 20 points, while Geri Woessner contributed 11.
Meredith McDonough led the Gators with 11 points and five rebounds.
Bethany 83,Washington & amp; Jefferson 74
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Bethany won its sixth PAC tournament championship in the last eight years. The win was the 18th in a row for Bethany (23-4), which set a school record for wins in a season.
Kelley Richardson scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds for the Bison. Washington & amp; Jefferson's (18-8) Leigh Sulkowski led all scorers with 31 points on 11-of-25 shooting, including 5-of-16 from 3-point range.
Wilmington 73, Otterbein 54
WILMINGTON -- Wilmington advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in three years and for the fourth time in five seasons by winning the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament championship game.
Tara Rausch scored a game-high 19 points with 20 rebounds for the Quakers (21-6). Otterbein (23-5) was led by Diana Esterkamp, who scored 13 points.
