Philadelphia Flower Show to mark 175th anniversary



PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Flower Show is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year. The show is scheduled for March 7-14.
Exhibits include breathtaking floral displays; a wedding room with the latest styles in bridal flowers; culinary presentations by celebrity chefs; 500 educational programs including quick how-to demonstrations for gardeners at every level; and vendors selling everything from orchids and dried flowers to tools and containers. And, if a long day at the show leaves you feeling exhausted, rejuvenate yourself with a "Garden Tea" featuring sandwiches, pastries and cookies; reservations required.
The show will be held at the Philadelphia Convention Center, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 7 and 14; 10 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. March 8-12; and 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. March 13. Street-level entrances are at 12th and Arch streets or 12th and Market streets. Advance tickets are $20, with a $22 admission at the door on weekdays, $24 on Sundays and $26 on Saturday.
Where proceeds go
All proceeds benefit the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. Guided tours before the show opens to the public each day are being held on March 9, 10 and 12 at 8 a.m. for $105 per person; reservations are required.
