NFL ROUNDUP News and notes

49ers: When free agency begins next Wednesday, don't look for Terrell Owens. Owens didn't void the final two years of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers. "We voided the contract. There's an issue now as to whether or not the void was effective," said Owens' agent, David Joseph, who will file a grievance. "I have spoken to the NFL Management Council and they have confirmed that Terrell Owens will not be among the players listed as an unrestricted free agent," 49ers general manager Terry Donahue said.
Jets: Vinny Testaverde, the 1987 No. 1 overall draft pick, is on the verge of retiring at age 40. Testaverde, a Heisman Trophy winner, spent six seasons with New York, but was primarily the backup quarterback to Chad Pennington the last two. "In an effort to figure out what is best for my family, myself and the New York Jets ... I will not be participating in the offseason program," Testaverde said in a statement. "I am considering, unless something changes, bringing an end to my professional playing career."
