MERCER, PA. Judge sentences three men to jail terms for robberies



Seven people were sentenced for various offenses.

MERCER, Pa. -- Judge Thomas Dobson of Mercer County Common Pleas Court sent three men to prison for separate robberies
Judge Dobson sentenced Travis Morris, 27, of Flint Drive, Hermitage, to nine to 24 months in prison for felony robbery.
According to court documents, on April 7, Morris shoved what appeared to be a handgun into the shoulder of a clerk at Dollar General, 1679 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, and demanded money. He took $73 and some cough drops.
He was given additional prison time for two felony convictions for criminal conspiracy-possession with intent to deliver for selling cocaine.
He was sentenced to one to two years for selling 7.5 grams to an undercover agent at a bar on U.S. Route 62 in Jefferson Township, and to two to five years' probation for selling 8.5 grams to an agent in the parking lot of a restaurant in Hermitage. The last two terms will be served concurrently.
Robbery
Terry Hall, 55, of Fourth Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to six to 15 years in prison for felony robbery and a misdemeanor count of making terroristic threats. He was given 183 days' credit for time already served.
According to court documents, on Aug. 29, Hall brandished a fishing knife and demanded money from another man at a Sharon residence. He threatened to kill the victim if he didn't hand over his wallet, and tried several times to stab him in the throat. The victim suffered a finger cut from trying to deflect the knife.
Naheem Langley, 29, of Twitmeyer Avenue, Hermitage, was sentenced to 18 months to three years in prison and declared boot-camp eligible for felony robbery for knocking a woman to the ground while taking her wallet at a gas station in Farrell on Aug. 27. The victim suffered a bruised elbow.
Others
Several others were also sentenced Friday.
UGordon Bair, 75, of French Street Extension, Sharon, was ordered into the Intermediate Punishment Program for nine months for leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, a misdemeanor. According to court documents, on Aug. 10, Bair failed to stop after his vehicle struck another man on Third Avenue, Sharon.
UBrandon Farrand, 28, of Lillie Bridge Mobile Home Park, West Middlesex, was placed on 18 months' probation for simple assault, a misdemeanor. He was given 60 days credit for time served. According to court documents, on Oct. 19, 2003, Farrand brandished a gun while threatening a man and woman outside a convenience store in West Middlesex.
UJeanna Schmidt, 22, of Orange Drive, Hermitage, was placed on 18 months' probation for recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. According to court documents, on Jan. 28, she shoved a boiling pot of water off a stove, striking Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Officer Kevin Wherry on the legs, resulting in second-degree burns. The episode occurred when officers came to a Hoon Avenue, Farrell address, responding to a domestic disturbance between Schmidt and her father.
UHelen Wamsley, 46, of Bend Road, Mercer, was sentenced to one to 18 months in the Mercer County Jail and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. ccording to court documents, Wamsley, who was employed as a caregiver, wrote $6,000 worth of checks from the account of a mentally disabled Lackawannock Township man in her care between January 2001 and July 2003.
