Mercer County will receive $374,198 under the 2004 Community Development Block Grant program. County commissioners approved a list of projects to receive the funds at their meeting Thursday. They include:
$12,173 for handicapped-accessibility improvements at Hempfield Township Park.
$17,868 for demolition of dilapidated houses in Jackson Center Borough.
$37,950 for handicapped-accessibility improvements at the Jamestown Borough building.
$24,800 for an emergency siren in Mercer Borough.
$17,200 for Mercer County Area Agency on Aging for improvements at the Sandy Lake senior center.
$17,300 to the Mercer County Regional Council of Governments for continuation of a program which buses low-income children and adults to the Chestnut Run Swim Beach for summer recreation.
$30,000 to The Literacy Council of Mercer County for family intervention programs in several school districts.
$73,095 for storm sewers in Wheatland Borough.
$76,458 for renovations at Woodland Place, an agency and county affiliated nursing home serving low and moderate income patients.
$67,354 for administration and planning for the grant projects.
