Historical Society plans a camp for kids
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning Valley Historical Society, 648 Wick Ave., will have Spring Break Camp for Kids from 10 a.m. to noon April 13-15 for children in grades 1-6.
The camp will meet at the MVHS Archival Library behind the Arms Family Museum of Local History.
This year's theme for camp is "Toys, Games and Other Amusements." During camp, children will make toys that American Indian and early settler children played, engage in Victorian parlor games and discover how children's games helped the war effort during World War II. From Indian gambling sticks to spy periscopes, campers will use a variety of materials to create playthings from the past.
Deadline for registration is April 6. Cost for camp is $15 for MVHS members (family or History Hounds members) or $20 for nonmembers.
Parents or guardians may register their children by calling (330) 743-2589 or e-mailing mvhs@mahoninghistory.org.
