NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- City police are asking for public help in the investigation of a shooting death Saturday morning. Rauol Santiago, 34, of New Castle, was pronounced dead at Jameson Hospital of a gunshot wound. Police responded to gunshots shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the area of the Diamond Cafe on East Washington Street. Santiago was found lying in the cafe parking lot. Police said the death is being treated as a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (724) 656-3588 or 656-9300.
Very Special Art Exhibit
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The 15th annual Very Special Art Exhibit at Grove City College will kick off with a reception, by invitation only, next Sunday in the Gallery of the Pew Fine Arts Center. The exhibit, featuring work from special education students at the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, will be on public display March 8-26 in the Gallery from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays (closed Sundays). Hours will be extended to 11 p.m. March 13.
Dance classes offered
SHARON, Pa. -- Classes covering beginner's swing dancing, jitterbug, cha-cha and Latin American merengue are being offered by the F.H. Buhl Club beginning Monday. Classes will be held on five consecutive Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. The fee is $60 per couple or $30 for a single participant. Pat Reda is the instructor; Karen Elder is the assistant. Quilts sought for display
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Organizers of a quilting show at Slippery Rock University are seeking quilts from area residents to display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24 at Russell Wright Alumni House. The show is part of Kaleidoscope, the university's 10-day arts festival featuring events for adults and children. Antique or modern quilts of all sizes and styles will be displayed.
