AREA SCHOOLS Bethany to play Titans for title



NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Don Joseph and Ed Pagley each scored 23 points as the Westminster College men's basketball team turned back Waynesburg 86-72 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament Thursday.
Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Bethany will play at Westminster (14-12) for the PAC title.
Mark DeMonaco scored 17 points and Pat O'Connor had 16 for the Titans. Joseph, Pagley and DeMonaco are all graduates of New Castle High.
Shawn Coleman scored 14 points for Waynesburg (11-16).
Bethany 78, Grove City 71
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Jim Deep scored 18 points off the bench to lead Bethany. Mike Drahos added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bison, who knocked off the defending conference champions. Tanner Prosser and Ryan Eller each had 14 points for Grove City.
Women
BEREA -- Freshman guard Kelly Williams, a Canfield High graduate, scored a career-high 10 points for Baldwin-Wallace, but the top-seeded Yellow Jackets were upset by Otterbein, 59-56, in a semifinal game of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
Otterbein (23-4), which ended a five-game losing streak to the Yellow Jackets, will play Wilmington at 3 p.m. Saturday. Diane Esterkamp led B-W with 17 points.
