Arts council president gets diversity award



YOUNGSTOWN -- David Vosburgh, president of the Arts Council of Youngstown and Mahoning County, received the 2004 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Award for Faculty Mentorship from the Youngstown State University Student Diversity Council and a a letter of commendation from Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Niles.
Vosburgh, an adjunct faculty member in YSU's theater department, serves as co-chairman of the YSU-Arts Council Summer Festival of the Arts, is a member of Youngstown 2010 and the Downtown Revitalization Committee and sits on the Youngstown Opera Guild's board of directors.
He has appeared on Broadway and in national companies, is a frequent pre-show lecturer for Playhouse Square's Broadway series in Cleveland, and served for five years as artistic director of the Youngstown Playhouse.
He holds a bachelor's degree in humanities from Thomas Edison College in New Jersey and a Master's of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University.
