Howland wins in Div. I opener

ALLIANCE -- Junior Sara Krezeczowski scored nine of her 23 points in the fourth quarter to help the Howland High girls basketball team defeat Uniontown Lake 49-39 in the Division I sectional tournament Monday at Alliance High School.
The Tigers (11-10) will play Canfield Saturday at 1 p.m.
Howland led 29-19 after three quarters, but the Blue Streaks (9-12) closed to within a basket (33-31) with about four minutes to go.
Krezeczowski then scored six straight points to stretch the margin to 39-31.
Ana Cvengros pulled in 15 rebounds for the Tigers.
Hallie Pettigrew scored 15 points for Lake.
