Here are a few tips for taking care of the easy-to-grow phalaenopsis orchid:
Water: Water them every week or 10 days, or when the pot feels light when picked up. Make sure that water can drain away completely. Watering in the morning is best.
Fertilizer: Use a fertilizer made for orchids almost every time you water. Every fourth or fifth time, use plain water to wash away any excess fertilizer.
Air: Good air circulation is essential.
Pot and soil: For air circulation, moth orchids usually are grown in chunky bark mix. Orchid pots often have holes in the sides to allow airflow.
Light: While the plant is blooming, it can be kept in the interior of a room. After blooms are done, put the plant in a north or east window to build up strength for the next bloom cycle. Unfiltered light from a south window is too much.
