Couple survives major crash with minor injuries

MERCER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said an Indiana, Pa., couple walked away from a crash along Interstate 79 with just minor injuries.
Christopher A. Zeisler, 24, and Brandi Weister, 20, were trapped in the wreckage of their pickup truck for two hours before they were freed by rescue crews from the Jackson Center, Mercer East End and Stoneboro fire departments, police said.
A crew from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation had to remove a section of guardrail to get to the vehicle so the victims could be removed, police said.
Neither was wearing a seat belt, police said, but both were treated for only minor injuries at United Community Hospital in Grove City.
Police said Zeisler was driving north on I-79 around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when he fell asleep.
His pickup truck ran into the median, traveled nearly 300 feet, then came back onto the road. It crossed both lanes and spun 180 degrees with the rear of the truck striking the guardrails, police said.
The vehicle then jumped atop the guardrail and traveled along it for a short distance before falling off, rolling down a steep gully behind the guardrail and coming to rest on its left side in a ditch, police said.
