Police chief intends to run for mayor
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police Chief Robert E. Bush Jr. said today that he intends to run for mayor in the May 2005 Democratic primary election.
Incumbent Mayor George McKelvey cannot run again because of term limits.
Bush said he has a "strong desire" to run for mayor and has the background, experience, vision and the leadership qualities necessary for the job.
Bush said that "down the road" he will talk about his vision for the city.
He said his mission is to continue on as police chief but added that he will actively campaign for mayor from now until the primary.
