PHILADELPHIA -- Simon Gagne scored on a penalty shot with 1:01 remaining. Gagne was awarded a penalty shot after Thrashers defenseman Andy Sutton shot a loose stick on the ice toward him while he was skating near the boards with the puck. Gagne broke in on goaltender Pasi Nurminen, faked to his left and lifted a backhander in for his 17th goal. The Flyers snapped a three-game losing streak. Serge Aubin, Sutton, Dany Heatley and Ilya Kovalchuk scored for Atlanta. Joni Pitkanen scored two power-play goals around one by Michal Handzus in a span of 2:42 in the first period. Marcus Ragnarsson also scored for the Flyers.
Devils 7, Rangers 3
NEW YORK -- Scott Gomez scored two goals and added three assists for the second time in three games, and Patrick Elias had four points to lead New Jersey. Gomez had his first multigoal game of the season and tied his career-high with five points. Elias scored twice and added two assists. Turner Stevenson and Grant Marshall also had first-period goals, and Gomez set up Elias and Brian Gionta in the second. Martin Rucinsky, Jaromir Jagr and Bobby Holik scored for the Rangers.

OTTAWA -- Martin Havlat scored 2:26 into the third period, lifting Ottawa over Calgary. Bryan Smolinski scored a power-play goal in the first and Patrick Lalime made 18 saves for Ottawa, undefeated in regulation in its last eight games (5-0-1-2). Defenseman Jordan Leopold scored on a power play midway through the first for Calgary, which has lost two in a row on the heels of its third four-game winning streak of the season.
Capitals 2, Panthers 2
WASHINGTON -- Robert Lang scored his team-leading 28th goal and assisted on Sergei Gonchar's goal to help Washington tie Florida. Gonchar tied it at 7:10 of the third, just seconds after a Washington power-play expired, one-timing a shot by Roberto Luongo's glove to extend Washington's unbeaten streak to four. Lang had a chance to win it in overtime, but shot high over an open net with less than two minutes to play. Mike Van Ryn and Kristian Huselius scored for the Panthers.
Maple Leafs 5, Canadiens 4
TORONTO -- Backup goalie Mikael Tellqvist remained undefeated, and Matt Stajan and Tom Fitzgerald scored and had an assist for Toronto. Tellqvist made 27 saves to improve to 5-0-2 this season. Nik Antropov, Joe Nieuwendyk and Mats Sundin also scored for the Maple Leafs. Pierre Dagenais, Steve Begin, Francis Bouillon and Michael Ryder scored for the Canadiens, who have lost five of six.
Islanders 4, Sabres 1
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Shawn Bates and Adrian Aucoin each had a goal and assist to help New York beat Buffalo. Arron Asham and Cliff Ronning also scored for the Islanders, 6-0-2-0 in their last eight home games. Rick DiPietro made 24 saves for his 15th victory, allowing only Dmitri Kalinin's goal.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Brian Rolston scored with 7:19 remaining in the third period to give Boston a tie with Carolina. Glen Murray scored twice off assists from Joe Thornton to help the Bruins complete a seven-game road trip at 4-0-1-2 and earn at least a point in their 12th straight game. Carolina's Ron Francis scored his 544th goal in the first period, tying Maurice Richard for 20th place on the NHL's career list. Josef Vasicek added a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, and Erik Cole had a third-period goal.
Predators 8, Coyotes 2
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Steve Sullivan had a goal and three assists, and Nashville strengthened its playoff position by routing Phoenix. The score was a season high for the Predators, who are 4-1-1 since snapping a three-game losing streak. It also was a season worst for the Coyotes. Tomas Vokoun had 24 saves -- 22 between Fredrik Sjostrom's goal on the Coyotes' first shot 34 seconds in and a power-play goal to Jeff Taffe with 6:33 left.
