AROUND THE RINKS
Tuesday's NHL games
Flyers 3, Blackhawks 1
PHILADELPHIA -- Former Blackhawk Alexei Zhamnov scored his first goal with the Flyers. Zhamnov was denied his second goal when Hawks goalie Michael Leighton stopped a penalty shot in the third period. Tony Amonte, who also once played for the Blackhawks, added a goal for the Atlantic Division-leading Flyers.
Canadiens 4, Senators 2
MONTREAL -- Steve Begin scored with 40.2 seconds remaining. Michael Ryder scored his second power-play goal of the game earlier in the period to tie it at 2. Montreal forechecked to keep the puck in the Senators' zone late in the period. Begin tipped a slow-moving puck past goalie Patrick Lalime for the go-ahead goal.
Bruins 0, Islanders 0
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Bad ice was the culprit in this tie. The start was delayed 90 minutes because of a hole in the ice around one of the goal creases. Rick DiPietro made 28 saves for the Islanders, and Bruins counterpart Felix Potvin stopped 33 shots as Boston was shut out for the second straight night.
Flames 2, Avalanche 0
DENVER -- Martin Gelinas' goal on a deflection broke a scoreless tie with 2:19 remaining, and Miikka Kiprusoff had 26 saves. Kiprusoff posted his second shutout of the season and fifth of his career.
Canucks 4, Red Wings 2
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Daniel Sedin scored all four Vancouver goals. Sedin completed his first career hat trick with 6:58 left, giving the Canucks a 3-2 lead, then added his fourth into an empty net with 34 seconds left.
