Eagle honor
Lenny Heeter, 18, of South Canfield Niles Road, Austintown, the son of Elizabeth Brode, recently received his Eagle Scout award at a court of honor ceremony at the Austintown Community Church.
Heeter has been a member of Troop 84 since 1997. His scoutmaster is Beau Watson.
He has served as adult leader, senior patrol leader and, troop guide and has earned 24 merit badges. Among his awards are the Heritage and Stambaugh Triangle awards
Heeter is a senior at Austintown Fitch High School and attends Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, where he is studying criminal justice. His plays baseball with the Austintown Community Baseball Association, has a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do and attends the Family Enrichment Center. He is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and is active with its youth ministry.
Arrow of Light
Eight members of Cub Scout Den 8,, Pack 119, Springfield Township, are to receive their Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scouting's highest honor, at the pack's annual blue and gold banquet Monday. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Springfield Intermediate School.
The boys scheduled to receive the award are Aaron Yoder, Matthew Tentinger, Kevin Bretz, Nick Davis, Ben Neuberger, David Pisansky, Adam Sanders and Matthew Peterson.
Den 8 leader is Tom Yoder of New Springfield. Cubmaster is Jerry Tentinger of New Middletown. The Rev. Ryan Krone, pastor of Petersburg Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, is Pack 119's charter organization representative. The den meets at the church.

Music education
Dr. R. Tad Greig, assistant professor of music and director of bands at Westminster College, has earned his doctorate in music education from Kent State University.
Greig's doctorate research focused on selection criteria and the educational aspects of band music selection.
His time at Westminster is split between directing instrumental groups and the classroom. He is director of the wind ensemble, symphonic band, Titan Marching Band and jazz ensemble and is coordinator of chamber ensembles. Greig also is active as a guest conductor and adjudicator throughout the Eastern United States.
He is a trombonist with the Youngstown Fine Arts Brass Quintet, as well as a member of the Westminster College Faculty Brass.
He is a member of the Collegiate Band Directors National Association, National Brass Society, International Trombonist Association, Music Educations National Conference, International Trombonist Association and Phi Beta Mu and member and past president of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Bandmasters Association. He also was recipient of the "Citation of Excellence" teaching award in 1999.
Greig received his undergraduate degree from Grove City College and his master's degree from Youngstown State University. He lives in Mercer with his wife, Tina, and two sons, David and Devin.
