Officials award pact for water, sewer lines

LIBERTY -- Trumbull County commissioners have awarded a $326,000 contract to a Youngstown company to design nearly $5 million in water and sanitary sewer lines in Liberty.
Commissioners awarded the contract Thursday to Engineering Services & amp; Consultants Inc. of Youngstown.
Thomas Holloway, county sanitary engineer, said the estimated cost of the lines is $4.8 million.
Funding sources have not been identified for the long-range projects, Holloway said, noting that Liberty wants the design work to be completed to give the township an advantage in seeking grants.
The township is picking up the cost of the engineering work.
The largest project, $4.3 million, consists of installing a waterline along Tibbetts-Wick Road from Belmont Avenue to Keefer Road and along Keefer.
A sanitary sewer will run from Tibbetts-Wick at Belmont to Keefer. It can't continue along Keefer because of grade restrictions, Holloway explained.
The areas that will be serviced by water and sewer include the streets on the southwest corner of Tibbetts-Wick and Belmont and Belmont Park Estates, a housing development.
An additional $457,000 will provide water and sewer service on Gypsy Lane in the Belmont Avenue area.
The township has been pursuing water and sewer services to spur development.
