El Salvador mission trip
LOWELLVILLE -- A 59-member missionary team will leave Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, early today for a nine-day trip to El Salvador. The group includes a medical team that will take about $100,000 worth of donated and purchased medication, and a construction team that will help to build a church. Other team members will help with outreach, nutrition, youth and clothing ministries.
40th anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., will observe its 40th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. The theme is "Enriched by Our Past, Challenged by Our Future, Empowered by Our Faith." Call (330) 743-1340.
World Day of Prayer
COLUMBIANA -- A World Day of Prayer service, hosted by the Church Women United of Columbiana United Methodist Church, will be at 1:30 p.m. March 5. This year's theme is "In Faith, Women Shape the Future."
Another such service will be at 11 a.m. March 5 at Vienna Presbyterian Church, followed by lunch. Participating churches include Vienna Methodist and St. Vincent DePaul churches. Additionally, Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will have a salad lunch at noon March 5, followed by its service.
Music benefit concert
POLAND -- Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, will be the site for Protestant Family Services' spring concert benefit at 7 p.m. March 6. Musicians from area churches will perform. An offering will be taken. Refreshments will follow. Call (330) 757-1547.
Bible Bowl competition
BOARDMAN -- Youths will compete in the Evangelical Lutheran Church's annual Bible Bowl competition at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive. Pupils in grades six through 12 from Bethel Lutheran in Boardman, Zion Lutheran in New Middletown, St. Paul Lutheran in Leetonia and Good Hope Lutheran who have spent four months studying the book of Genesis will compete in written and oral tests. Bible seminar offered
BOARDMAN -- "The Story of Scripture," a Bible seminar on how Scripture was transmitted from its earliest forms to modern translations, is from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Trinity Fellowship Church, 4749 South Ave. Dr. William H. Noah, author of "The First Commandment, Be Fruitful and Multiply," will speak.
