For HIV care providers
PITTSBURGH -- Health-care providers from seven states who care for people infected with HIV will meet at the Wildwood Conference Center, Harrisburg, on March 3 and 4 to discuss new federal guidelines for HIV prevention. Titled the "First Regional Conference on Case Finding and Secondary Prevention: A Proactive Response to Prevention in Primary Care," the conference is sponsored by the Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health.
Heart-study grant for Pitt
PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh has been awarded some $14.5 million from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health to develop new approaches that seek to improve the outcomes of pediatric heart transplant recipients. The five-year grant establishes the University of Pittsburgh as a Specialized Center of Clinically Oriented Research in Pediatric Heart Development and Disease.
'Golf Power' at UPMC
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The UPMC Horizon Wellness Center offers "Golf Power" from 6 to 8 p.m. March 3 at the Wellness Center, 26 Conneaut Lake Road, and from 5 to 6 p.m. April 7 at the Greenville Country Club driving range. COLUMBIANA -- A program to celebrate the 100th birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss will be 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 2 at the Columbiana Public Library.
