WARREN -- A 43-year-old man convicted of two charges of attempted pandering obscenity involving a minor has been sentenced to a year in prison.
Jon Scott Bloyer of Sigle Lane, Boardman, was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Authorities say Bloyer, a former volunteer announcer for the Boardman Little Spartans football program, used a public computer at the Girard Free Library to view sexually oriented images involving children.
During searches of Bloyer's home and 1994 Ford Bronco in August, police seized children's clothing, including numerous shoes.
Bloyer had said the clothing was given to him by friends to sell at flea markets that his parents visit regularly. Bloyer is also facing similar charges in Mahoning County; that case is pending. Bloyer was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on 10 counts of pandering obscenity, each a fourth-degree felony. If he is convicted of each count and receives the maximum sentence, he could get up to a total of 15 years in prison, prosecutors said.
Bloyer had sexually oriented pictures of children in his truck when authorities searched it, said Dawn Krueger, assistant Mahoning County prosecutor. All of the pictures involved young girls, some of them in sexual bondage situations, Krueger said. She said there were several pictures in the truck, but Bloyer was charged only on ones in which the girls were clearly age 10 or younger. Boardman police also found sexually oriented photos in Bloyer's home.
Krueger has said that Bloyer also faces charges in the Dayton area. He is accused of sending letters to a 14-year-old girl who lives there.
