Behind Lynle Cornell's 31 points, Hubbard girls halt Red Dragons



NILES -- Lynle Cornell scored 31 points to help the Hubbard High girls basketball team defeat Niles 58-48 Tuesday.
Cornell, who made four 3-pointers, scored 11 points in the first quarter when the Eagles took an 18-13 lead.
It was 35-26 by halftime.
Danielle DeJulio had 11 points and Shari Bullock scored 10 points for Hubbard.
Stacia Ray scored 14 points and Michelle Melillo had 10 points for Niles (9-10).
Youngstown Christian 50, East Liverpool Christian 47
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Rachel Coristin scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Youngstown.
The Eagles (14-4), behind 22-19 at the break, outscored the Warriors 16-10 in the third quarter, with Coristin scoring nine of those points.
The schools each scored 15 points in the final eight minutes as the Eagles held on for the win.
Youngstown Christian's Danielle Pecchia chipped in with 10 points and Candace Turner pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Eagles had a 37-20 rebounding advantage.
Courtney Thomas and Britney Merriman led the Warriors (12-10) with 18 and 12 points, respectively.
