AK Steel to increaseprices on products
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- AK Steel Corp. said Tuesday it will increase the price of its electrical sheet steel and strip products by $90 per ton, effective with shipments March 1.
Beginning this month, the company had already increased the prices of its electrical steels and its carbon steels by $30 per ton each. Electrical steels are used in motors, transformers, generators and ignition coils. Carbon steels are used in cars and household appliances.
AK Steel officials attributed the price increases to increasing costs of energy and steel scrap needed for production.
