EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Caity Matter scored 23 points, playing less than 24 hours after her brother, Ricky, was killed in a car accident. Matter was 7-for-11 from the field and 6-for-9 from 3-point range as the Buckeyes (15-8, 7-5 Big Ten) led by as many as 24 points in the second half. Jessica Davenport had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and LaToya Turner had 15 points and nine rebounds for Ohio State, which shot 64 percent from the field and had a 32-21 rebounding edge. Kelli Roehrig had 11 points and Kristin Haynie added 10 for Spartans (19-5, 9-4), who lost for just the second time in their last 11 games.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Kelly Mazzante scored 16 points and Jess Strom had 10 points and 12 assists in front a Penn State women's record crowd of 15,389. Penn State (19-4, 11-1 Big Ten) opened with a 13-0 run, while the Wolverines (11-15, 4-9) committed five turnovers and missed their first five shots. Tanisha Wright scored 14 for the Nittany Lions, and Jessica Brungo and Jennifer Harris each scored 10. Jennifer Smith led Michigan with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Niki Reams scored 10.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tasha Butts scored a career-high 37 points and Tennessee (21-2, 10-0) extended its Southeastern Conference winning streak to 30 straight. Butts, whose previous career-best was 19 points, finished 12-of-15 from the floor, a perfect 6-of-6 from 3-point range and 7-of-8 at the free throw line. Butts also had a team-high nine rebounds and seven assists. Shyra Ely added 16 points for Tennessee followed by Brittany Jackson who had 14 off the bench and LaToya Davis with 10. Hager finished with 23 points for Vanderbilt (16-7, 4-6), while Carla Thomas had 17 and Dee Davis 15.
No. 5 Purdue 80, Northwestern 45
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Shereka Wright scored 19 points to lead Purdue to its 12th straight victory. Purdue (21-2, 11-1 Big Ten) went on a 19-5 run over the final 8:54 of the first half to take 35-19 lead. Katie Gearlds and Erin Lawless added 13 points apiece for Purdue. Samantha McComb led Northwestern (8-16, 1-12) with 16 points.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Shannon Bolden scored 18 points and first-time starter Kelly Roysland added 14 to lead Minnesota (19-4, 8-4 Big Ten). Tiffanie Guthrie had 24 points and 12 rebounds for Illinois (10-13, 4-8). Angela Williams added 12 points for Minnesota.

CHICAGO -- Khara Smith scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Jenni Dant added 21 points for DePaul (22-2, 10-1 Conference USA). Sarah Kustok scored 12, and Charlene Smith had 11. Jennifer Sullivan led Memphis (17-8, 7-5) with 22 points, and Victoria Crawford scored 17.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Seimone Augustus scored 26 points to help LSU maintain its hold on second place in the SEC. Temeka Johnson had 17 points and a game-high six assists for the Tigers (20-4, 8-2). Doneeka Hodges had all 15 of her points in the first half, and Scholanda Hoston added 11. Bernice Mosby led the Gators (16-7, 6-4) with 19 points. Vanessa Hayden added 17 despite shooting just 7-for-24 with four turnovers.

Rebecca Rowsey had career highs of nine points and 12 rebounds, while Janese Hardrick scored 16 points and Sherill Baker added 11 for Georgia. Amber Terrell led Ole Miss (15-10, 6-5) with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Carletta Brown added 10 points.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Kim Ortega scored a career-high 22 points to lead TCU (20-4, 9-2 C-USA) to its seventh win in eight games. Tiffany Evans added 20 points and Ebony Shaw had 18 for TCU. Sandora Irvin finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds while Tracy Wynn had 10 points. Andrea Daniels led Charlotte (14-10, 7-4) with 19 points. Pam Brown and Leslie Cook each had 16 points for the 49ers, while Monica League added 12.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Jenni Lingor scored 23 points and Kari Koch added 16 for Southwest Missouri State (21-2, 12-1 Missouri Valley Conference). Christy Neneman led Creighton with 20 points. Angie Janis had 14 and Kristi Woodard added 10.

LOS ANGELES -- Jessica Cheeks made a 3-pointer with just under a minute remaining and hit two free throws with 13.8 seconds to go as USC handed Arizona its second straight loss. Cheeks came off the bench to lead the Trojans with 15 points and three steals. Ebony Hoffman had 12 points, and Rometra Craig added 11 for USC (14-9, 11-4 Pac-10). Dee-Dee Wheeler led Arizona (18-7, 10-4) with 20 points. Natalie Jones scored 18 points, and Shawntinice Polk had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Chandi Jones scored 21 points, and Houston (21-3, 10-1 C-USA) made 11-of-12 free throws in the final 3 1/2 minutes for its sixth straight win. Jones became C-USA's all-time's leading scorer with 2,490 points. Sancho Lyttle added 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Nicole Oliver had 10 for Houston. For East Carolina (14-10, 5-6) Jennifer Jackson had a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds.
