POLAND -- A father and son have been charged with felonies in a weekend confrontation with a township trustee in her home.
Rob Baldwin, 28, of Green Garden, Boardman, is charged with felonious assault, felony aggravated burglary and misdemeanor criminal damaging. Robin Baldwin, 53, of Hill Drive, Poland, is charged with felony burglary.
Bond was set at $100,000 for each man. Rob Baldwin posted bond and is free. Robin Baldwin was still in the Mahoning County jail this morning.
According to township police, Trustee Annette DiVito was in her Candywoods Drive home with her three children about 5:45 p.m. Sunday when the men "unlawfully entered her home."
Police said the men were looking for Annette DiVito's husband, Frank, who was not home.
An argument started, and one of the men grabbed the trustee's arm and pinned her against a wall while repeatedly striking her right hand with a blunt object, police said.
DiVito broke free with the help of her children and the men left through a rear door to the garage, according to police.
Broken car window
Police reports said the men broke a rear window of a car in the DiVitos' garage and smashed an outside security light before leaving.
Annette DiVito was later treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center's Boardman facility.
The men were arrested later Sunday.
According to police, the men were looking for Frank DiVito in relation to a fight at a Boardman bar Saturday evening.
Frank DiVito and Rob Baldwin had been in a verbal and physical fight at the bar, reports say. Police didn't know the nature of the conflict.
Frank DiVito is a member of Poland Board of Education.
