MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE Kent State scores eighth straight win

KENT -- Bryan Bedford scored 20 points and Kent State rallied in the second half for its eighth straight win, 80-72 Saturday over Bowling Green.
Bedford made 4 of 8 attempts from 3-point range and Jason Edwin added 15 points for the Golden Flashes (18-3, 12-1 Mid-American Conference).
Cory Eyink led the Falcons (10-13, 6-7) with 20 points and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Steven Wright added 15 points.
Bowling Green (10-13, 6-7) led 35-31 at the half and was on top 58-51 with 10:10 left when Ron Lewis hit a 3-pointer.
Kent State, which hit 14 of 28 shots in the second half, closed the game on a 13-5 run after tying the score 67-all with about four minutes left.
Ohio 83, Akron 79
ATHENS -- Jaivon Harris scored 22 points to lead Ohio to victory over Akron.
Five other Bobcats (9-13, 6-7 Mid American Conference) scored in double figures. Delvar Barrett had 16, Sonny Troutman scored 12, Terren Harbut 11 and Thomas Stephens 10.
Andy Hispher, who finished with 11 points, hit a free throw to put Akron (11-11, 5-9) ahead 65-64 with 6:29 left.
Ohio then went on a 10-3 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Troutman, to take a 74-68 lead with 2:42 remaining.
Derrick Tarver led the Zips with 29 points, and Rick McFadden of Struthers scored 12.
E. Michigan 84, Toledo 79
TOLEDO -- Markus Austin scored 27 points and Eastern Michigan withstood every Toledo rally while holding off the Rockets.
Michael Ross added 15 points and John Bowler had 13 for the Eagles (10-11, 5-8 Mid-American Conference).
Buffalo 75, Central Michigan 66
AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daniel Gilbert scored 17 points to lead Buffalo to a win over Central Michigan.
Trailing by five with 10:52 left in the first half, Buffalo (10-11, 6-7 Mid-American Conference) closed the period with a 16-4 run to take the lead for good.
Ball St. 67, N. Illinois 62
DEKALB, Ill. -- Cameron Echols scored 18 points, Dennis Trammel added 16 as Ball State defeated Northern Illinois.
Ball State (10-11, 7-6 in the Mid-American Conference) committed just eight turnovers.
