SWIMMING Two locals advance to district tourney
Canfield's Ashley Linnelli and Boardman's Hayley Robinson earned berths.

AKRON -- Canfield senior Ashley Linnelli and Boardman junior Hayley Robinson each earned automatic district berths after placing second in their respective events at Friday's Division I girls sectional swim meet at the University of Akron.
Linnelli placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.71. The top three individuals and the top two relays earn automatic district tournament berths.
Linnellie placed fifth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.43, which will likely qualify her for an at-large berth.
Linelli also anchored Canfield's fourth-place 400 freestyle relay, which had a time of 3:52.32. Other relay members include Vanessa Gestosani, Jennifer Nentwick and Tracie Sinsheimer.
Robinson, a two-time state qualifier, placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.47.
Robinson also anchored two relays that could earn at-large bids. The Spartans' 200 medley relay of Kelly Kuntzman, Robinson, Katie Leone and Sarah Grabert placed fifth with a time of 1:57.51.
Boardman's 200 freestyle relay of Katie Mansfield, Leone, Grabert and Robinson took fifth with a time of 1:44.81.
Akron Firestone placed first.
The boys meet will take place today.
Perry sectional
PERRY -- Poland's 400-yard freestyle relay of Jackie Ickowski, Christina Barringer, Jennifer Sabula and Maura Picciano placed sixth in Friday's sectional meet at Perry High School -- the only area relay team to place in the top six.
No area individuals placed in the top six.
