YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mardi Gras sock hop with DJ John Angelo, "The Music Machine," will be from 6-10 p.m. Feb. 24 in St. John's Episcopal Church's parish hall, 323 Wick Ave. The cost for the costume-optional event is $5 for adults and $2 for children age 10 and under. The cost includes supper at 6 p.m. and evening snacks and pop. Make reservations by Wednesday at (330) 743-3175. Free child care will be provided until 8 p.m.
The church will have the Ash Wednesday Liturgy with the imposition of ashes at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 25.
Pilgrimage offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- Four churches are sponsoring a Lenten pilgrimage to see "St. Peter and the Vatican: The Legacy of the Popes" exhibit of Vatican artifacts in Cincinnati. The pilgrimage will also include a visit to the Basilica of Assumption in Covington, Ky., and a performance of "Nunsense, Amen." The sponsoring churches are St. Brendan, St. Joseph, St. Patrick and Immaculate Heart. The tour is March 24-25 and costs $174 to $224 depending on occupancy. For reservations, call (330) 792-3875.
Evangelist to speak
MINERAL RIDGE -- Evangelist Fred Barfield from Stone Mountain, Ga., will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Feb. 22 at Apostolic Assembly of Mineral Ridge, 1603 County Line Road.
'The Bridal Feast' theme
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Wind in the Word Outreach Ministries and Rivers of Living Water Outreach Ministries will present "The Bridal Feast -- The Bridal Call" at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Premiere Hotel. Rock band performs
MINERAL RIDGE -- Rock band The D.I.G. Project will bring its winter tour to three locations after local performances last August. The D.I.G. Project has played throughout New York and Pennsylvania. Performances are free but offerings will be taken. The locations are:
UGirard First Presbyterian Church, 890 Church Hill Road, 7 p.m. Friday.
UMineral Ridge High School Auditorium, 1334 Seaborn St., 7 p.m. Saturday, with "Five O'Clock Shadow," a Mineral Ridge high school group. The event is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Ridge, which will collect items for the Community Food Cupboard.
UCalvary Presbyterian Church, 119 Laird Ave., Warren, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
Musician to perform
CANTON -- Christian artist Justin McRoberts will perform at Malone College at 8 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Randall Campus Center. Tickets are $5. Call (330) 471-8502. He released his fifth CD, "Intersections," last year.
Recovery program
GREENFORD -- GriefShare, a recovery seminar and support group, will meet at Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Road, at 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 24. Sessions range from handling the death of a spouse to growth through grief. Call (330) 533-3278.
Special services offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmont Drive, is having two programs.
"Service of the Word," an hour of prayer and praise, begins at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 29. There's a coffee fellowship at noon every Sunday.
All Girl Scout troops in the Youngstown area are invited to the Annual Girl Scout Sunday Celebration at 10:30 a.m. March 7. A reception will follow.
'Faith Lift' program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Zion Lutheran Church (ELCA), 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown, will host "How About a 'Faith Lift?'" with the Rev. Paul Lintern of Isaac's World, 7 p.m. Wednesday. An offering will be taken. Refreshments will follow.
