Distinguished Eagle
Edward R. Cleckner of Cortland recently received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award during Howland Rotary Club Community Day at the Avalon Inn, Howland.
Cleckner has been a registered member of Boy Scouts of America for more than 81 years. He earned more than 68 merit badges on his trail to Eagle Scout, was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, and served on the Western Reserve Council Board of Directors for several years.
The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award is granted to Eagle Scouts who, after 25 years, have distinguished themselves in their life work and who have shared their talents with their communities on a voluntary basis.
Cleckner has been an American Red Cross volunteer since 1924. His other memberships include Trumbull County Fair Board, Trumbull County Planning Commission, Trumbull County Correctional Institute Citizens' Advisory Board, and Trumbull County Litter Control Board.
He has been a Democratic Party precinct committeeman for 32 years, member of Cortland United Methodist Church, member of Fair Housing Board, Bazetta-Cortland Historical Society, member of Rotary International, member of Howland Rotary Club, and has received numerous awards and recognitions.
DOCTORS
Audiology degree
Holly Reinke of Newton Falls was recently awarded the doctor of audiology degree from the School of Audiology at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. Reinke received a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in communication disorders and a master of arts in audiology from Kent State University.
She is the managing audiologist at the Center for Hearing Care in Austintown. She and her husband, Greg, have two children.
HONORS
Alumni award
WARREN -- Dr. Paul Wright, chief cardiologist at St. Joseph Health Center, was among four University of Notre Dame graduates who were recently honored in South Bend, Ind., by the university's Alumni Association.
Dr. Wright, a 1972 Notre Dame graduate and former cardiologist to Mother Teresa, received the Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Award for his record of humanitarian service.
Dr. Wright is co-founder of the Poorest of the Poor project, which directs 80,000 pounds of food and supplies each month to Appalachia. He also developed the Medication Mission program, which has provided indigent people with $800,000 worth of free prescription drugs since last May.
Wright, who also chairs St. Joseph's coronary care committee and intensive care department and directs its congestive heart program, was a volunteer for Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, which comforts the abandoned, destitute and dying. He attended her beatification ceremony at The Vatican in October.

Pathobiology
Tim Thullen, a graduate of South Range High School and Hiram College, has received his doctorate degree in pathobiology and molecular medicine from the University of Cincinnati. He is the son of Dick and Martha Thullen of Canfield.
Thullen and his wife, Laura, now live in Trenton, Maine. He is working on a postdoctoral training fellowship at Jackson Laboratories in Bar Harbor, Maine. Jackson Laboratories is a world-renowned institute specializing in cancer and genetics research.
