NESHANNOCK Renovations to continue at stadium
The district is looking for a part-time groundskeeper.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Neshannock Township School District gave permission for Eckles Architecture of New Castle to continue plans on Lancer Stadium renovations.
Superintendent Dr. Michael Hink said the district's stadium needs new lights for safety reasons. He added that although the board approved creating the plans, it doesn't have to approve the project if the cost is too high.
Hink told the board he has contacted several cell-phone companies with the possibility of using a light tower to host the cell phone tower. A Beaver County school district recently took on a similar endeavor where the company funded the light project, he said.
Board President Frank Rondinelli said if a cell phone company would be interested, township supervisors would need to approve the plans.
The board agreed to advertise for a part-time groundskeeper, to start May 1. Hink said the groundskeeper would work an average of 20 hours per week for about $5.50 per hour. This position would replace two summer workers.
Hilary Gorzelnik was unanimously approved as high school assistant track coach at a salary of $2,312.
The board also agreed to advertise for sealed bids for used surplus equipment from the elementary building project.
Items to be included are: a used emergency generator, kitchen equipment, library bookcases, and other miscellaneous equipment.
